Another popular edge for and countertops include the small quarter round off the edge of the natural stone. Or sometimes, the edge of the granite countertop may be slightly beveled to prevent it from sticking out. Both these edges are basic modifications to the marble and granite countertops and do not cost anything extra.

A bull-nose edge is becoming increasingly popular for marble countertops. A bull nose edge is a variation where the top edge is rounded more dramatically, and a full bull-nose converts the edge of the countertop to a perfect half-circle.

These basic edges are included in the cost of the marble and granite countertops and do not cost anything extra to cut or to install. Many times, homeowners prefer to have a matte finish to the edge of the countertop so that it can be provide some contrast from the top of the countertop.
